Why does Costco cost so much?
Costco has been selling the same products at its largest retail locations for decades, but it has always offered discounts on the higher-end items, such as $50 Costco Wholesale Club membership or $5.99 off $99 Costco gas.
Now, the company is taking its low-cost business a step further by introducing Costco Club memberships.
Costco will pay for a monthly membership of up to $10.99, with $5-off and $20-off offers for every additional membership after that.
The company has also expanded its low prices to its stores.
Costco says that its stores now have 30 percent less expensive items than they did last year, including its most popular items, and its best-sellers like Costco Gas, Costco Whole Foods and Costco.com, along with its most expensive items, are on sale for $5 or less.
The savings are not available to those who already have Costco membership, but they can be applied to other memberships at no additional cost.
The price cuts are available to anyone who lives in the U.S. and is an active Costco member.
The store offers many of the same savings as a regular Costco membership.
But Costco says the savings can be used to make purchases at its other stores, including Walmart, Costco.ca, Costco Outlet and Walmart.com.
Costco said it plans to expand the discounts to all of its stores and also to its own online store.
“We’re excited to offer these savings to Costco members as part of our commitment to providing more value for our customers and our members, and we look forward to welcoming them to our online store,” Costco said in a statement.
