Cristiano “The King” Ronaldo made his return home to Lisbon on Saturday as he guided Portugal to a 3-1 victory over Benidorm to set up a World Cup qualifying semi-final at Wembley on Monday.
The Portuguese superstar returned to the Lisbon city on Friday evening after spending the last three months away from the game, with the World Cup qualifier scheduled for Saturday at 10.30pm local time (16.30 GMT).
The match was Portugal’s second of the tournament, which has been held in Lisbon since 2011.
Ronaldo has won seven of the 10 games he has played, scoring 22 goals in the process.
The game came after Portugal lost to Spain 2-1 in the group stage, leaving them just one point behind second-placed Germany.
Portugal are now six points behind the holders, who travel to Spain on Monday for a second leg in the semi-finals.
