CANADA’S OLD-FASHIONED PAPERHOUSE HAS BEEN CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC FOR TWO DAYS IN THE PAST FOUR YEARS.
But on Thursday, the pharmacy’s owners said they had reopened to the public and that they would continue to make and distribute products from the old pharmacy.
But in a statement released Friday, owner and operator Dave and Lisa Fry said they did not have the resources to reopen the pharmacy.
The couple said that they were able to open the pharmacy after the closure due to donations from their business.
The Fryes opened the online pharmacy in 2014 and have been operating it under the name Fry’s Pharmacy since then.
They opened the facility in the heart of the downtown Toronto neighbourhood of Bathurst Street East on Oct. 1, 2018.
“Our hope is that this is the last time we do this in Canada,” said Dave Fry.
“We hope to open again in 2019.”
They said they have sold over 10 million products from their old pharmacy in Canada, including prescription medications, vitamins and supplements.
But Fry’s online customers have continued to buy from the Fry’s pharmacy and have begun to post products online.
They are selling products from several different brands, including Johnson & Johnson, CVS Caremark, Pharmafox, Alcona, Avon, Rite Aid, and others.
Dave Fry said he would continue making and distributing Fry’s products, but the Fryes also plan to open a second Fry’s retail location.
“We are going to continue to operate our old pharmacy as long as there are people who want to come in,” he said.
“I hope to reopen Fry’s again in 2020.”
A spokeswoman for the Ontario Health Ministry said there was no comment to make on the Frye’s pharmacy.
